About Dubbo

Dubbo sits in the fertile Macquarie Valley, where the Newell, Mitchell and Golden highways meet, five hours' drive from Sydney, it is a destination that combines a rich pastoral history with great food and wine, expansive parklands, museums, galleries, arts and crafts, and the famous Taronga Western Plains Zoo, making this part of Country NSW ideal for a family holiday.

Learn about Australia's pioneering history on a heritage walk or at a historic homestead, Victorian-era gaol or modern cultural centre. Old Dubbo Gaol is now a museum and a chilling reminder of Victorian-era prison life. The town has several other galleries, museums and collections, as well as some outstanding natural attractions, including the Dubbo Regional Botanic Gardens.
